JTBC’s Welcome To Samdal-ri (2023) tells the story of two childhood friends on Jeju Island who were driven apart by different goals in life, but reunite after facing a crisis.
Jo Yong Pil aspires to become a weather forecaster to protect the elders of his hometown on Jeju after his mother died from a mistaken weather report when he was younger. Jo Sam Dal aspires nothing but to leave the island for Seoul, making it big in the fashion photography industry. However, she loses everything and returns to her hometown and bumps into her childhood friend, rekindling old feelings.
