Are you ready for a new round of deadly games? On June 18th, Netflix has revealed the starring cast for the anticipated second season of the global hit series, Squid Game, which is expected to be released in 2024.
The returning cast includes Lee Jung-jae who is best known as Player 456, Lee Byung-hun the Front Man, Gong Yoo the salesman who recruits players, and Wi Ha-jun the police officer. New players were also announced to join Squid Game 2 (2024), including:
Yim Si-wan

Singer-actor Yim Si-wan was born on December 1, 1988. He started playing cameo roles for TV series in 2010 and was recognized for his appearance in Moon Embracing The Sun (2012). He was cast for various roles since then, both in films and TV series. He played a young student activist in The Attorney (2013), a professional baduk player and struggling employee in Misaeng: Incomplete Life (2014), an athlete in Run On (2020), an accountant in Tracer (2022), a villain in Emergency Declaration (2022), a countryside librarian in Summer Strike (2022), and a psychopath in Unlocked (2023). So far, he has achieved 20 awards out of 46 nominations throughout his acting career. He was also placed 35th in “Forbes Korea Power Celebrity” in 2015.

Kang Ha-neul

Kang Ha-neul was born on February 21, 1990. He is an active musical theater actor since 2006, made his TV debut in 2007 and movie debut in 2011. He played an introvert student in The Heirs (2013), an employee in Misaeng: Incomplete Life (2014), a prince in Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016), a countryside police officer in When The Camellia Blooms (2019), a bandit leader in The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure (2022), a judicial trainee in Insider (2022), and a theater actor in Curtain Call (2022). So far, he has achieved 21 awards out of 40 nominations throughout his acting career. He was also placed 2nd in “Gallup Korea’s Actor of The Year” in 2019 and 23rd in “Forbes Korea Power Celebrity” in 2020.
Park Sung-hoon

Park Sung-hoon was born on February 18, 1985 and made his debut as an actor in 2011. He is best known for his bully role in the hit series, The Glory (2022-23), which earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards. He also played roles in the historical-political drama, Six Flying Dragons (2015), in the action drama, Mad Dog (2017), portrayed a serial killer in Psychopath Diary (2019), and a prince in Joseon Exorcist (2021). So far, he has achieved 5 awards out of 9 nominations throughout his acting career.

Yang Dong-geun

Yang Dong-geun was born on June 1, 1979 and is a veteran actor. He has played roles in a number of TV series and films since 1987, including Monopoly (2006), The Perfect Game (2011), The Three Musketeers (2014), Missing Nine (2017), My Secret Terrius (2018), Lost (2021), The Forbidden Marriage (2022), Connect (2022), Cheer Up (2022), and Yaksha: Ruthless Operations (2022), to name a few. So far, he has achieved 14 awards out of 17 nominations throughout his acting career.
