The Dream (2023) star IU and The Roundup: No Way Out (2023) action star Ma Dong-seok were named the Movie Actress and Movie Actor at the 2023 Brand of the Year Awards!
Hosted by the Korea Consumer Brand Committee and organized by the Korea Economic Daily with the Korea Consumer Forum, the brands of this year’s “Brand Of The Year Awards” were selected from 16 industries with meticulous basic research, extensive consumer voting, and deliberation and evaluation by experts. The online and telephone survey with Korean consumers was conducted from July 3 to 16, garnering 8,019,473 votes in total.
In the field of entertainment under the People/Culture category, actor Ma Dong-seok and singer-actress IU were recognized as outstanding influencers in movie, winning the titles Movie Actor and Movie Actress of the year.
Singer-actress IU played a female director who documents the story of football players in Dream (2023), a sports movie about a football star player under disciplinary action who is given a challenging assignment to coach a group of homeless people who are inexperienced with football but is set to compete for the Homeless World Cup. The film was released theatrically on April 26th and is now available for streaming on Netflix.
Action star Ma Dong-seok, also known as Don Lee played a detective who moves to the Metropolitan Investigation Team to beat a group of heinous criminals with his new team in The Roundup: No Way Out (2023), the sequel to the hit films, The Outlaws (2017) and The Roundup (2022). It was released theatrically on May 31st and reigns supreme as the no. 1 best-selling movie in South Korea in 2023.
