“Sad Tropics” Movie Confirms Cast And Filming

The highly anticipated film, “Sad Tropics” has confirmed the cast and schedule of filming, which is happening on December 10, 2021. The action-noir film is helmed by Park Hoon Jung and revolves around an aspiring Korean-Filipino boxer who comes to Korea to find his estranged father. Throughout the quest, he stumbles upon a villainous group of boys and a mysterious nobleman.

Early in September, Kim Seonho was positively reviewing the casting offer, as confirmed by his agency, although his role was not specified yet. On November 1st, it was reported that he has confirmed his appearance and will play the role of a nobleman, which is a complicated and mysterious character that will completely transform his acting into something different that the audience has never seen before.

Rookie actor Kang Taejoo will portray the aspiring boxer who was chosen through an audition of 1,980 competitors. The said film will also be his big screen debut. He appeared in the drama series, Missing: The Other Side (2020) and Hello, Me (2021).

After reviewing the project, Go Ara has confirmed her appearance as the female lead. However, it is not cited if her character is a love interest of the nobleman but rather, a significant role who holds the key to the story’s mystery. She appeared in various films and television series including the hit shows Reply 1994 (2013), Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016), and Dodosolsol Lalasol (2020), just to name a few.

On November 19th, actor Kim Kang-woo has also confirmed to join the movie. He has appeared in several films, variety shows, and television series. His recent accolades include the “Top Excellence Award, Actor in a Weekend Drama” at the 2018 MBC Drama Awards for his role in the series, My Contracted Husband, Mr. Oh.
