“Crash Landing On You” Enters Top 10 On Netflix In Japan And Thailand This Week

“Crash Landing On You” (2020), also known as CLOY, is a big hit romantic-comedy Korean drama series, starring hallyu stars, Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin. It was aired through Korea’s TVN cable channel and released on Netflix worldwide.

Locally, it broke records with its final episode of 21.6% nationwide viewership rating, beating the records of “Reply 1988” (2015) with 18.8% and “Goblin” (2016) with 18.6% among the cable television dramas.

The series also gained immense popularity overseas with a record of 1.75 billion views online. Time, Variety, and Elle recognized it as one of the best international television series of all time.

Nearly two years since its release, “Crash Landing On You” is back on the Top TV shows on Netflix worldwide, ranking #15 among 2021 Korean series with 1,891 points.

Interestingly, it’s on the Top 10 TV shows in Japan and Thailand on week 49 in 2021.

It earned nine (9) nominations at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards namely Best Drama, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Bazar Icon Award, and the Popularity Award was granted to the main leads, Hyun Bin and Son Yejin.

It also achieved the Most In-Demand Korean Drama Series at the 3rd Annual Global TV Demand Awards; Outstanding Korean Drama and Outstanding Korean Actress (Son Yejin) at the 15th Seoul International Drama Awards; the Best Drama Series through Asian Academy Creative Awards; and the Overseas Drama Special Award through Tokyo Drama Award 2020.

Winners at the 7th APAN Star Awards was also given to Son Yejin (KT Seezn Star Award), Kim Young-min (Best Supporting Actor), and Kim Sun-young (Best Supporting Actress). Hyun Bin also won the Grand Prize (Daesang) for his role as a North Korean soldier.
