3 Points Why Kim Ji-hyun’s Character Is Lovable, Relatable In “Thirty-Nine”

Thirty-Nine is a Korean drama starring Son Ye-jin, Jeon Mido, and Kim Ji-hyun. It follows the ordinary lives of three friends who are not married and about to reach the age of 40.

Jang Joo-hee, played by Kim Ji-hyun, is one of the characters and here are three points why she is one lovable and relatable friend in the drama.

1. She’s the amusing friend who is into K-dramas and oppas.

What’s not to like about Joo-hee? She is an easy-going person, calm, approachable, warm, has a sense of humor, and definitely knows how to have fun.

In a world of troubles and worries, she ties up her hair comfortably and spends a relaxing night with a beer and her favorite K-drama. The moment she said, “My gosh, he’s so hot,” it probably made you feel her Korean drama craze and want to befriend her. She’s the kind of chingu you’d want to chat with about life, drinks, midnight food, make-up, and the best of Korean heartthrobs.

2. She’s the warmest friend who enjoys a low-key, carefree single life.

Joo-hee is a carefree woman who enjoys working as a cosmetics manager at a department store. She wears a neat uniform and her eyes glow as she smiles brightly at the shoppers.

She appears to have a low-key and timid personality but she’s a listening friend who will make time for you and cry with you. In fact, she gave up her lottery for her friend”s health. She’s also one tough woman who reflects deeply about life and invests her money cautiously, ā€œI’m single with no kids. I should save up.ā€

3. She’s a relatable character who feels rejection as a friend.

“I must look weak in her eyes,” Joo-hee felt hurt to perceive her long-time friend withholding something to tell her, as if she’s a stranger, a newcomer, an outcast, or someone who cannot be trusted with.

During a meal time with her two bestfriends, she sensed that something serious is going on. Without reservation, she directly and boldly expressed her sentiments, “I’m always the last to learn about important things.”

Joo-hee is a relatable character who resembles the friend in us who sometimes feel left out in the group. In the drama, she meets a guy who happens to have the same feelings of rejection and they become listening friends.
