Korean Film “Broker” And Cast Receive Praises At Cannes Film Festival 2022

The South Korean film, Broker (2022), was a crowd-favorite at the most star-studded Cannes Film Festival.

Broker (2022) is a film directed by the award-winning Japanese screenwriter-director Hirokazu Kore-eda. The story tells about abandoned babies in boxes set for adoption.

The film stars top Korean actors Song Kang-ho from Parasite (2019), Bae Doona from Kingdom series (2019-2020), Gang Dong-won from Peninsula (2020), and Lee Ji-eun from My Mister (2018), who is also known as IU, an award-winning Korean singer.

Broker (2022) as well as Decision To Leave (2022), were the only two (2) South Korean/Asian titles among the 21 selected films to compete for the Palme d’Or at Cannes Film Festival, the most glamorous international film celebration. The director and cast of Broker (2022) attended the said grand world premiere on May 26th in France.

According to various reports, Broker (2022) received a 12-minute standing ovation after its official screening, the most overwhelming audience recognition in Korean film history. The actors were also praised by watchers and critics for their outstanding performances.
