“Who is the most popular star who shines in Asia in 2021?” AAA raises enthusiasm and excitement for fans to see their highly-favored artist hold the popularity award.
Asia Artist Awards (AAA) is a leading global award ceremony where famous artists from Asia gather together in one place to receive honor for their outstanding achievements and contributions in television, film, and music. It was established in 2016 and is organized by South Korea-based business newspaper Money Today and its global media brands StarNews and MTN.
In the 6th edition on December 2, 2021, the awards will take place at the KBS Arena Hall in Seoul, 6:00pm KST. It will be hosted mainly by the Super Junior member, Leeteuk and IZ*ONE member, Jang Won-young, with a star-studded line-up of appearances and performances.
Prior to the main event, an online voting was launched for fans across the globe to cast votes for their favorite singer or actor. The number of votes for the “AAA RET Popularity Award” and “U+Idol Live Popularity Award” depict the hallyu influence of the artists worldwide.
Kim Seonho scores a double win in the actor category.
Kim Seonho‘s popularity vote stands out in this year’s AAA actor category, consistently leading in both polls for “AAA RET Popularity Award” and “U+Idol Live Popularity Award”.
In AAA 2020, he won the Best Emotive Award for his excellent performance as Han Jipyeong in the drama, “Start-Up”. He expressed his gratitude through an interview with Star News, “I heard that the Emotive Award is given to those who are good at portraying emotions. It’s such an honor as an actor and I’m very grateful. Although I still lack a lot, this award motivates me to work harder moving forward. With this, I will do my best as a pledge to show you better acting performances.”
He also shared that “Start-Up” (2020) was like a Christmas gift to him for playing the character of Han Jipyeong which received tremendous praise and recognition. He also considered the support of his fans to be the reason behind the award.
Once again, Kim Seonho captured the hearts of millions worldwide with his top-notch performance as Chief Hong in this year’s hit series, “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha”. He is truly a one-of-a-kind actor whose stardom is unstoppable and continues to soar globally that it shows in the AAA popularity poll.
First win: AAA RET Popularity Award
The “AAA RET Popularity Award” is fully decided by the vote of fans for selected singer or actor who has been active from October 2020 to present.
With more than 1.7 million of votes (44.3%), Kim Seonho achieves the top one spot in the actor category. GOT7’s Jinyoung who won the popularity award in 2020, ranks second place this time with 35.4% of votes.
AAA reveals that winners from each category will receive an invitation to the 2022 Asian Artist Awards which will be held in Japan.
Second win: U+Idol Live Popularity Award
The “U+Idol Live Popularity Award” is another 100% fan-voted poll which is conducted for singers and actors who have been active from 2020 to present.
With more than 540,000 of votes (40.5%), Kim Seonho ranks first place in the actor category, followed by Astro’s Cha Eun-woo with 33.2% of votes.
The popularity voting has officially closed on November 15th KST. Although the final round required paid tickets to cast votes, fans across the globe were determined to secure two popularity awards for Kim Seonho.
But more than the popularity vote, what truly shines in Kim Seonho is his impact as an actor which is undeniable. No wonder he rose to stardom and was recognized as an A-list actor within a year for his top-notch acting skills. His 10+ years of hardwork in the theater industry is now yielding favorable results.
On November 14th local time, six electronic billboards are displayed in Times Square, Manhattan, New York to promote the AAA 2021 Awards Ceremony. It contains video images of famous K-stars. The excitement is high as artists and fans await for the big event in December.
