Kim Seonho has officially entered into the list of candidates for the Individual Awards in this year’s Seoul International Drama Awards, South Korea’s largest international awards for drama that honors TV drama productions and actors worldwide.
The Outstanding Korean Drama Actor award is given to a male actor who made a Hallyu impact for his drama performance and is fully decided by fans through the “Idol Champ”. It is a voting app for idol fandoms developed by MBC Plus Inc. and Neowiz Inc., which has 8 million fandom users worldwide. The candidates are selected based on appearances in dramas that aired between May 2021 until June 2022 and recommended from all platforms.
As of August 1st, Kim Seonho is leading the poll for the Outstanding Performance in a drama by an actor with votes from fans worldwide. The Hallyu star captured the hearts of viewers for his charming visuals and excellent performance as the iconic Chief Hong Dusik in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (2021). He is followed by the Semantic Error (2022) actors, Park Seo-ham and Park Jae-chan.
Other candidates included Lee Junho, Jung Hae-in, Rowoon, Kim Soo-hyun, Ahn Hyo-seop, Choi Woo-shik, Kim Nam-gil, Nam Joo-hyuk, Song Kang, Lee Do-hyun, Yoon Chan-young, Ji Hyun-woo, Lomon, Yoo Seung-ho, Im Siwan, Chansung, Jang Seung-jo, Cha Seung-won, Kwon Yul, Lee Jiwoo, Namkoong Min, Yeon Woo-jin, Lee Musaeng, Nam Hyun-woo, Park Yong-woo, Yoon Bak, Lee Sangyoon, Lee Sang-yi, Bek Hyun-jin, Lee Sung-jae, Lee Hak-joo, and Jin Seon-kyu.
Seoul International Drama Awards officially announced its first offline event post-pandemic with 225 oustanding dramas from 39 countries submitted.
The organizing committee with NeoWiz CO., LTD. considered the Hallyu fans worldwide by launching a mobile voting system through the Idol Champ app with the categories Outstanding Performance by a Male and Female Actor, Best OST, Outstanding Asian Star, and Outstanding K-Pop Idol.
The poll will run from August 1 to 31, 2022 and the final winners will be officially announced during the awarding ceremony on September 22nd. The event will be broadcast live simultaneously on KBS2 TV from 17:00 to 19:00 KST.
