The 8th APAN Star Awards has released its official list of candidates for this year’s Popular Actress and the final winner is fully decided by fans worldwide through the “Idol Champ” voting app.
As of September 6th, Park Eun-bin and Kim Se-jeong are leading the race for the popularity award. Both female actors delivered memorable and entertaining performances and received immense popularity worldwide this year.

Park Eun-bin played as the Crown Prince in KBS’ The King’s Affection (2021), which became the third longest running Korean drama on Netflix”s Global Top 10 in 2021. In the following year, she played as an intelligent lawyer with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in ENA’s Extraordinary Attorney Woo (2022), which marked her rise to Hallyu stardom. The show rocked this year’s K-drama content, breaking records and dominating rankings, locally and internationally. As of September 7th, it has crossed 500 million viewing hours, officially becoming the no.2 most-watched Korean title on Netflix in 2022.
Kim Se-jeong played as Shin Hari in SBS’ A Business Proposal (2022), which is one of the most popular romantic-comedy Korean shows of the year, stayed on Netflix’s Global Top 10 for 13 weeks, and watched for a total of 279.1 million hours. During the drama’s airing, the webtoon views on Kakao’s platform was reported to have surged tenfold. The drama also took third place in the list of most talked about Korean dramas on Twitter worldwide in 2022.
Other candidates included Lee Se-young in The Red Sleeve (2021-2022), Bae Suzy in Anna (2022), Kim Tae-ri in Twenty-Five Twenty-One (2022), Kwon Yuri in Bossam: Steal The Fate (2021), Kim Go-eun in Yumi’s Cells 2 (2022), Shin Mina in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (2021), Han So-hee in My Name (2021), and Jung Ho-yeon in Squid Game (2021).
The poll will run from September 5 to 25, 2022 and the final winner will be officially announced during the awarding ceremony on September 29th at Korea International Exhibition Center, Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
APAN Star Awards is an an awards ceremony that recognizes the excellence in South Korea’s television including domestic terrestrial, general, cable, OTT, and web dramas, and contribution to Hallyu (Korean wave), organized by the Korea Entertainment Management Association (CEMA).
