Korean actors Kim Hye-soo and Lee Jung-eun who both starred in Juvenile Justice (2022) have earned the national win as Best Actress in a Leading and Supporting Role and will represent South Korea at the Grand Awards and Gala Finale in this year’s Asian Academy Creative Awards.
Eleven nominees from 11 countries have been announced to compete in the final round for Best Actress in a Leading Role. South Korea’s Kim Hye-soo in Juvenile Justice (2022) has been selected as official candidate alongside Australia’s Rarriwuy Hick for True Colours, Hongkong’s Louise Wong for Anita (Director’s Cut), India’s Sakshi Tanwar for Mai: A Mother’s Rage, Indonesia’s Indah Permatasari for Wedding Agreement The Series, Malaysia’s Nad Zainal for Dendam Seorang Isteri, Philippines’ Jodi Sta. Maria for The Broken Marriage Vow, Singapore’s Rebecca Lim for This Land Is Mine, Taiwan’s Cheryl Yang for Light The Night, Thailand’s Prapakorn Chairak for Remember 15, and Vietnam’s Le Ngoc Minh Hang for Tiger Mom.
In the Best Actress in a Supporting Role category, 10 candidates from different countries will compete for the grand award. South Korea’s Lee Jung-eun in Juvenile Justice (2022) has been selected as the national winner alongside Australia’s Mabel Li for New Gold Mountain, Hongkong’s Elaine Yiu for The Righteous Fists, India’s Kirti Kulhari for Human, Indonesia’s Susan Sameh for Wedding Agreement The Series, Malaysia’s Shaza Bae for Nusyuz Berkiblat Cinta, Philippines’ Dimples Romana for Viral Scandal, Singapore’s Kayly Loh for Sister Stand Tall, Taiwan’s Liou Yin-Shang for Still Me, and Thailand’s Venita Loywattanakul for Remember 15.
Juvenile Justice (2022) is a Netflix original series that explores teenage crimes in various stories, addressing complex cases through punishment according to juvenile court. Kim Hye-soo played a tough judge who suffers from a traumatic past that concerns her son, an experience that shaped how she perceives and handles juvenile cases. Lee Jung-eun becomes the chief of Juvenile Justice who looks at teenage crimes differently and often clashes with the judge. The show successfully achieved 7 weeks in the global rankings on Netflix.
The final winners of this year’s Asian Academy Creative Awards will be officially announced during the Grand Awards and Gala Finale in Singapore on December 7-8, 2022.
