Kim Seonho, Song Ji-hyo Lead AAA Japan DCM Popularity Award 2022

Kim Seonho and Song Ji-hyo lead the first round of Japan DCM Popularity Award poll in Asia Artist Awards (AAA), a leading global award ceremony where famous artists from Asia gather together in one place to receive honor for their outstanding achievements and contributions in television, film, and music.

The DCM Popularity Award is given to a celebrity star who is most popular in four categories: male singer, female singer, male actor, and female actor. The winner is fully decided by fans worldwide in two rounds of voting. The first round is free voting through the DCM Live platform where the top 20 finalists progress to second round, which is paid voting.

In the actor category, 44 male actors and 40 female actors were selected by the organizing committee for the popularity award. As of November 11th, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (2021) actor Kim Seonho is leading the first round in the male actor section with 214,000+ votes from fans. He is followed by The Red Sleeve (2022) star Lee Jun-ho with 170,000+ votes. In the actress category, the Running Man member Song Ji-hyo is leading the poll with 41,000+ votes. She is followed by Park Min-young who got 30,000+ votes, so far. She appeared in two dramas this year, Forecasting Love And Weather (2022) and Love In Contract (2022).

The first round of free voting will end on November 14th at 23:59 KST. The vote count will reset once the second round of paid voting begins on November 16th. The second round will end on November 28th at 23:59 KST.

Asia Artist Awards was established in 2016 and is organized by South Korea-based business newspaper Money Today and its global media brands StarNews and MTN. In its 6th edition in December 2021, three Korean actors received popularity awards including Song Ji-hyo for AAA RET Popularity Award and Jung Ho-yeon for U+Idol Live Popularity Award in the female category. Meanwhile, in the male category, Kim Seonho achieved a double win, taking home the AAA RET Popularity Award and U+Idol Live Popularity Award. See list of full winners in 2021 here.

The 2022 Asia Artist Awards (AAA) will be held at the Nippongaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan on December 13th and to be hosted by the Super Junior member, Leeteuk and IZ*ONE member, Jang Won-young. It will also be broadcast live via Idol Plus.
