Next Sohee (2023) is a Korean film loosely inspired by the real-life suicide of a girl on an ‘externship’ program. The story follows So-hee, a high school student who takes a job training education at a call center, experiencing work pressure, and Yoo-jin, a female detective who is in charge of the case, following traces that reveal the cause of her death. The film was screened at the Cannes International Film Festival on May 25, 2022 and at the 26th Fantasia International Film Festival. It won the Best Director award in the Cheval Noir competition category and the Best Asian Feature silver award in the Audience Award category at the Fantasia International Film Festival.
