Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (2021) has been granted with the Korean Wave or Hallyu Excellence Award by the Korea Communications Commission Broadcasting Awards. The said government agency holds an annual event that selects and honors excellent programs produced by various broadcasting companies in South Korea. The ceremony was held at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul City on June 20th.
While the show is known to be one of the highest-rated dramas in South Korea’s cable television history and most popular TV series on Netflix in 2021, the government’s media agency has recognized its huge contribution and impact in the spread of Korean wave, also known as Hallyu, across the world. Thus, the Hallyu Excellence Award.
