Kim Nam-gil, Jeon So-min Enter Final List Of Nominees At Seoul International Drama Awards 2022

Korean actors Kim Nam-gil and Jeon So-min have entered the final list of international candidates in a fierce competition with other selected actors from overseas in the International Competition section of Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA).

On August 3rd, SDA revealed 24 dramas and 30 individual candidates from 11 countries/regions to compete in the International Competition section that consists of two categories, Program and Individual. The Program category includes the Best TV Movie, Best Mini Series, Best Serial Drama, and Grand Prize Award. Meanwhile, the Individual category includes the Best Director, Best Screenwriter, Best Actor, and Best Actress.

Korean actor Kim Nam-gil made it to the final list of nominees for Best Actor. He played as a detective-turned-criminal profiler in the series, Through The Darkness (2022), which is based on the 2018 non-fiction book, Those Who Read the Minds of Evil, written by Korea’s first criminal profiler Kwon Il-yong and Ko Na-mu, a journalist-turned-author.

The selected Korean actor will compete with Tobias Moret from Germany (The Winemaker), Stephen Graham from U.K. (Help), Sebastian Koch from Austria (Your Honor), Fang Yin from China (The Last Goodbye To Mama), and Murat Yıldırım from Turkey (Aziz).

Jeon So-min was also selected to compete in the final round for Best Actress. She played a grieving mother whose daughter died in an accident in a thriller drama special, My Daughter (2021) also known as “Hee Soo”.

The Korean actress will compete with Jodie Comer from U.K. (Help), ANA RUJAS from Spain (Thistle), Sandrine Bisson from Canada (The Last Summers of the Raspberries), Ebru Şahin from Turkey (Destan), Burcu Biricik from Turkey (Chrysalis S2), and Jie Dong from China (The Last Goodbye to Mama).

KBS’ My Daughter (2021) and its director, Choi Sang-yeol, also made it to the final list of Best TV Movie and Best Director.

The final winners will be officially announced during the awarding ceremony of Seoul International Drama Awards on September 22nd. The event will be broadcast live simultaneously on KBS2 TV and SDA’s official Youtube channel from 17:00 to 19:00 KST.
