Kim Seonho Dominates AAA Japan DCM Popularity Award 2022

Hallyu star Kim Seonho continues to dominate the second round of Japan DCM Popularity Award poll in Asia Artist Awards (AAA), a leading global award ceremony where famous artists from Asia gather together in one place to receive honor for their outstanding achievements and contributions in television, film, and music.

The DCM Popularity Award is given to a celebrity star who is most popular in four categories: male singer, female singer, male actor, and female actor. The winner is fully decided by fans worldwide in two rounds of voting. Twenty finalists from the first round of free voting will be selected to compete in the second round of paid voting through the DCM Live platform.

In all four categories, Kim Seonho displays the highest number of votes from fans worldwide with a count of 707,000+ or 85.5% as of November 21st. Song Ji-hyo tops the female actor section with 103,000+ votes (48.4%) while Lim Young Woong leads the male singer category with 81,000+ votes (45.9%) and the group Weeekly tops the female singer section with 156,000+ votes (41.2%).

The second round of paid voting will end on November 28th at 23:59 KST. According to AAA, votes from the first and second rounds will be accumulated and the final winner will be given to the artist with the highest number of votes in each category.

Asia Artist Awards was established in 2016 and is organized by South Korea-based business newspaper Money Today and its global media brands StarNews and MTN. In its 6th edition in December 2021, three Korean actors received popularity awards including Song Ji-hyo for AAA RET Popularity Award and Jung Ho-yeon for U+Idol Live Popularity Award in the female category. Meanwhile, in the male category, Kim Seonho achieved a double win, taking home the AAA RET Popularity Award and U+Idol Live Popularity Award. See list of full winners in 2021 here.

The 2022 Asia Artist Awards (AAA) will be held at the Nippongaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan on December 13th and to be hosted by the Super Junior member, Leeteuk and IZ*ONE member, Jang Won-young. It will also be broadcast live via Idol Plus.
