Kim Go-eun And Kim Seonho Top The Best Acting Performances Of 2021

The Hallyu Talk Awards has named the best acting performances of 2021 on January 14th.

With 39% of total votes, the Yumi’s Cells star, Kim Go-eun won the title for “Best Actress”. She played as Kim Yumi in the romantic-psychological drama, whose love cells fell into a coma after experiencing a traumatic failed relationship.

Yumi’s Cells took 5th place in the list of NME’s 10 Best Korean Dramas of 2021. Besides the confirmed 2nd season of Yumi’s Cells, Kim Go-eun is also anticipated to perform in another TVN series entitled, Little Women. It will be released this year.

Meanwhile, the 2021 Gallup Korea’s “TV Actor of the Year”, Kim Seonho, won another “Best Actor” for his performance in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha at the Hallyu Talk Awards with 67% of votes.

He was also recognized by the jury as the “Breakthrough Star of the Year” and won the People’s Choice Awards for “Best Actor” at the 2021 Metro Best K-Drama Awards.

His skills in acting continues to be recognized overseas. According to the New York Times best-selling and award-winning American author, Christie Golden, Kim Seonho is one of the most convincing and natural actors she has seen. She expressed that the actor was perfect in portraying the many emotions throughout the series and added, “He delivered a jaw-droppingly good performance.”

He dominated the weekly rankings of the most buzzworthy drama actors during the entire run of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. He also ranked #1 in the Drama Actor Brand Reputation with a brand reputation index of 5,551,730 in September and 7,201,577 in October.

Moreover, he ranked 31st in the 2021 Korea Forbes Power Celebrity and attained two popularity awards at the 2021 Asian Artist Awards (AAA). In the same year, he ranked #1 among the Korean celebrities who was most searched in Google Philippines and #1 most searched male actors in Singapore.

Kim Seonho also took first place for the most anticipated performance in 2022. His movie debut, Sad Tropics, is expected to be released in the 2nd half of the year.
