Kim Seonho Maintains No.1 Position For Outstanding Drama Actor In Seoul International Drama Awards 2022

It’s the final day of audience voting for the Individual Awards at this year’s Seoul International Drama Awards, South Korea’s largest international awards for drama that honors TV drama productions and actors worldwide.

Kim Seonho who has been nominated for Outstanding Korean Drama Actor category has maintained the no.1 position for 30 consecutive days with more than 50% of votes from fans at “Idol Champ”—a powerful testament on his huge impact as a Hallyu star across Asia and the world.

The actor led one of the most watched and loved Korean series of 2021, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, which was also granted the “Hallyu Excellence Award” by the government’s Korea Communications Commission Broadcasting Awards and named one of “The Best Korean Dramas and International TV Shows Of 2021” by US Variety and NME. On Netflix worldwide, it stayed for 16 consecutive weeks on the Global Top 10, becoming the second most popular Korean series in 2021, next to Squid Game.

Looking at Kim Seonho’s performance, he was honored the title “TV Actor Of The Year” by Gallup Korea in December 2021, which he truly deserves. He played as Hong Dusik or Chief Hong and made it iconic for his captivating visuals and portrayal of various emotions—a simple character yet brimming with energy and depth from a nosy yet jolly, charming town hero to a captivating, warmhearted lover to a man marred with pain from the unhealed past. Kim Seonho makes you smile from sheer amazement of how incredible one talent can act from Hong Dusik’s clothes, manner of speaking, the carefree style of walking, the mannerism, the habitual expression of “Ok!”, random brushing of hair, lip biting, as well as the portrayal of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, avoidance, and fear of abandonment—a totally convincing performance that he was the character.
